Juxtaposition
Louis Eeckhout (piano), Robbe Broeckx (drums), Toon Rumen (bass) and Seppe De Bleser (alto saxophone) are four talented musicians from a new generation of Belgian jazz musicians. Together they form the project “Juxtaposition”. As the name of the band suggests, these musicians are interested in the fine line between different styles and ways of making music. This results one time in elaborate arrangements and the next in totally free improvisation or anything in between. Own compositions are the basis, often referring to creative composers or musicians from the past. In the end, the music is the sum of all personalities in the band.
Two for tea
Julie Honorez (vocals) and Louis Eeckhout (piano) together make up Tea for two, a duo exploring hidden gems in the jazz standard repertoire. Presenting this material in a new and exciting way, is the challenge these musicians both embrace and go for.
Thanks for the roses
Valentine Uyterhoeven (vocals), Louis Eeckhout (piano/synths) Felix De Clerq (bass) and Robbe Broeckx/Hadrien Perso (drums) are a band dedicated to the music written by vocalist and composer Valentine U. This music hovers between engaging melodies and lyrics, spatial soundscapes, and exploratory improvisations, inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Yael Naim and Melanie De Biasio.
Misstriohso coulours
Marie-Anne Standaert (trumpet, flugelhorn, effects), Robbe Kieckens (drums, percussion) and Louis Eeckhout (piano, keys) form the band Misstriohso Coulours. The original instrumentation of this band is the main inspiration for a repertoire that is made up out of original compositions written by the band members and a sample of Turkish or Iranian music.
Solo
The solo piano project of Louis Eeckhout is based on the presentation of several musical worlds that in his view can exist next to each other. Schumann or Schubert might appear next to Monk, a spiritual, free improvisation, or an original composition. The connection between the repertoire could be made through the featured tonalities, rhythms or dynamics.
